Welcome

Photography means painting with light. As I explore more and more of China, I find myself drawn to her people. While there is certainly grand nature out West, and incredible skyscrapers in the East, what makes this country special are the people building it, living in it and working hard to see their lives improve. While the latter is not always the case, it is striking to see how the mundane and the extraordinary combine everywhere. I am working on a section about the maglev construction; please have a look at the people over there.

Feel free to explore the galleries, come back often as I add more and more photos to the site.

Leave me a message if you'd like to own a print, use some of the work, commission something special or just say Hi.

Enjoy,
Thomas Boltze

Two older guys check out the surf. They're down in the water any chance they get, well into their 50's.
I watched them gear up and head out into 10ft waves to have some real fun and show the kids how it's done.
